Hi friends,

It’s been a good week. I hope you can say the same.

Lots of classes, went to a CTE conference, worked on some PD. I have to say I’m rather proud of my productivity this week.

Whether or not you felt similarly, I hope you’re enjoying some downtime this weekend with someone(s) you love. Do yourself a favor and disconnect from work for at least a chunk of this weekend.

I’m really happy with the lineup for this week’s newsletter. We’ve got a solid video on the power of words featuring kids of all ages. While it’s not 100% target towards teachers, I think the connection will be powerful and obvious.

And this week’s Emailable PD is focused on practicality. I’ve been thinking about relevance in the classroom so much lately. I will say that I’ve been investing a lot more time than in the past in trying to make my content relevant to the daily lives of my students - and I’ve been surveying my kids about it.

The cool thing is … it’s working.

Here are a few of the comments I’ve been getting:

“I love this class.”

“I’m learning stuff that really matters.”

“I know I can actually use what I learn here.”

“I don’t get bored in this class. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

I don’t float those quotes as a humble brag. I’m not the world’s greatest teacher or anything. But I will put in the work. And that’s what I hope to communicate via this week’s PD to your teachers. When you make the investment, it pays off. And, truth be told, it’s not that hard to do.
