Weekly Inspo Vids - Week Thirteen

Nov 08, 2025
∙ Paid

Hi friends,

It’s been a hectic week. Fortunately (for me at least), I’m kicking off a four-day weekend. (Furlough days are a bummer, but not necessarily when they’re adjacent to a holiday).

The week was not only hectic, but heavy. One of those where it feels like staff and students alike are dealing with major life events. I feel like I’ve always been fairly good at compartmentalizing, but something has shifted. The longer I’m in a building, the more I seem to care for the souls around me. I don’t regret it, but it’s not always easy and light. I feel more emotionally tired this week than normal. Anyone else?

On a lighter note, I wanted to share a video that my own principal shared this week during some PD. Our conversation was on collective teacher efficacy (which I shamelessly co-opted for this week’s Emailable PD). I think the metaphor is pretty clear, but it’s one worth highlighting. Too many great teachers are islands. Collaboration is time-intensive (at least initially), but it’s critically important. I hope your staff sees the parallels in this video to the concept of going further together.

Enjoy!

Weekly Quote

“Montaigne, the great French philosopher, adopted these seventeen words as the motto of his life: ‘A man is not hurt so much by what happens, as by his opinion of what happens.’ And our opinion of what happens is entirely up to us.”

Suggested Email Body:

This week, we’re spotlighting one of the most powerful forces in a school building: teachers who believe in each other. Collective Teacher Efficacy isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the shared confidence that, together, we can solve challenges, grow learners, and make a lasting impact. Research backs it up, but more importantly, so does experience: when teachers collaborate, celebrate wins, and support each other through the hard stuff, students benefit. Teaching is tough work—but it was never meant to be done alone. Let’s lean into the power of us.
