Hi friends,

I hope you all had a very restful holiday with family and friends. Ours was amazing. Lots of football. Lots of food. Lots of kids running around. All good things.

As we head into a busy holiday season, I wanted to make a few announcements:

  • We’re taking a planned break from monthly PD for December. Due to the school holidays, few folks are introducing new PD next month. We’ll resume as usual for January, with a new Monthly PD video dropping January 7th. We will send out a reminder email next Sunday, December 3rd, with some free resources we’ve made available previously.

  • We’re wrapping up the salary schedule data this week and hope to complete the report next week. Stay tuned!

  • The report will focus on positions in the US, as we did not receive enough submissions from Canada and other countries to generate good aggregate data. However, we can push the survey back out to administrators across the globe in the hopes of publishing a special report in the future, building on the data we’ve already received. Thanks to all who submitted. We want to find a way to honor your time and provide useful information.

On to this week’s content! I really, really love this video. It’s very true to the nature of the job. And we’ve got some great emailable PD focused on avoiding power struggles. Plus, we've used AI to generate a picture of the most beautiful school cafeteria on the planet!

Enjoy!

Weekly Emailable PD

Use in staff newsletters, emailable PD messages, etc.

Two common misconceptions that teachers face when they see a power struggle coming:

  1. “If I don’t address this, the other students will think they can treat me this way.”

  2. “I have to figure this out quickly before things escalate.”

In this week’s Emailable PD, we explain why neither of these statements are true and what your teachers can do when they feel this way.

See below for downloadable PDFs and JPEGs for your staff newsletters.
