Weekly Inspo Vids - Week Four
Howdy, howdy!
I can’t believe we are one month into ‘23-24. Bananas. I hope the week went smoothly for you and you’re gearing up for another productive one. If you’re starting school this week, a very special shout out to you and your incoming scholars!
Lots to share this week. This week’s video is unique and reminds me of my own teaching story. Shortly after I won our district’s Silver Apple award after only a few years in the profession, a no-nonsense instructional coach set me straight. “Your kids like you because you have charisma, but are they actually learning anything?”
Ouch. My mission changed on that very day. No more trying to get voted “Best Teacher.” It all became about connecting and challenging kids. I like to think I’ve come a long way since then.
And I’m really excited about this week’s Emailable PD. Taking a page out of Henry Wong’s The Classroom Management Book - probably the most straightforward CM resource of all time. And wrapping things up with a snazzy AI tool that is great for student brainstorming.
Thanks so much, everyone! And please vote for the video and “Would you rather?” We all benefit when you take a quick moment to click the button!
Enjoy!
P.S. I was shocked to see that folks would rather give up their favorite beverage rather than their favorite food! I drink coffee waaaaaay more than I eat pizza. Check out all the results and don’t forget to vote!

We continue our exploration of classroom management essentials. This week’s focus: predictability and procedures. Students do well when they know what they’re expected to do. See below for downloadable PDFs and JPEGs for your staff newsletters. And check back next week for some concrete examples of procedures and routines.
