Summer Edition #1: Five Best (and Worst) Videos of the Last Three Years
Hi friends,
Happy mid-July to you! I hope this finds you on a sunny beach or a wooded campground. Actually, I hope you were able to disconnect and this finds you after some relaxing adventures. Either way, I wanted to send out a quick, inspirational message that is more entertaining than anything else.
Over the last three years, we’ve published 126 weekly newsletters, each including an inspirational video to share with your staff. I wanted to share my favorite from the past three years, and a few that were really unpopular based on reader reviews.
In the top five, I guarantee you’ll find one or two that are pure gold for inservice. Let me know what you think!

Enjoy!

P.P.S. As I mentioned previously, we’re working on some big improvements for ‘24-25. We’re in the final stages of testing and implementing the changes. (Don’t worry - the free videos will always be free for all readers. No changes there!) Within the next week, I’ll share a lot more specifics and a big personal update from me. Stay tuned!
Along with the massive improvements for next year come added costs on our end. We will be raising rates this year. (Don’t panic - if you’re already a paid subscriber, your rate is locked in for life!). If you’re not yet a paid subscriber, you have until August 15th to upgrade to lock in the $7/month or $70/year rate. Why not do it now?

I love videos of students sharing their candid thoughts about teachers. Some such videos seem scripted, but this video is clearly real. I love it.

#3 - Worst Teacher Ever
2021-22 - Week 35
Mike’s Rating: 5
Subscriber Rating: NA
Inappropriate? Absolutely. Still, it’s good to have a sense of humor about our profession. Hopefully, this doesn’t trigger memories of real scenarios and various staff members on plans.
#2 - Why We Need Teachers
2023-24 - Week 1
Mike’s Rating: 5
Subscriber Rating: 92.2%
This is a fantastic video for gaining some perspective. We’re all playing the long game. As hard as it is to remember that, we sometimes need a concrete example.

Out of 126 videos, there will inevitably a handful that miss the mark. These few in particular were less than entertaining to you. So … let’s watch them again!

I thought this one was kinda hilarious, but at a subscriber rating of 66% you all did not agree.
Teacher Appreciation from Derek the Glue Stick
Teacher Appreciation from Derek the Glue Stick
I’ll admit it, I don’t know what I was thinking. This was way too lame. The teachers are great. The glue stick was horrible.
