The Survey Results are In!
Hello friends!
I wanted to thank everyone who took a second to share their thoughts this year. In particular, the feedback regarding PD topics was very helpful and will guide much of my work next year.
I wanted to turn around the results quickly so you all can see how our little community feels.
Let’s take a look!
(Or you can view all the feedback here).
What’s working and what’s not?
As I asked about the most helpful components of the newsletter, many of the historical fan favorites continue to rise to the top.
Response from Free Subscribers:
Response from Paid Subscribers:
It’s clear that folks in both camps rely heavily on the weekly video and weekly quote, and most paid subscribers also use the weekly Emailable PD.
We also received a lot of positive feedback about the Monthly PD. I’m particularly excited about the volume of responses we received regarding topics we should cover in the future. That’s a critical piece in making sure our content stays relevant for your needs.
When asked about what items are less popular, your responses also carried a clear message.
I’ve been curious about how usable the “Would you rather?” and Weekly Trivia have been. I’ve long suspected that they are some of the least-utilized pieces of the newsletter. Also, the content related to AI became particularly difficult to continue toward the end of the year for a lot of reasons. While I think AI is going to become more and more integrated into our daily personal and professional lives, much of what’s out there at the moment lacks quality. I felt conflicted about continuing these portions of the newsletter without being particularly proud of them.
Subscriber Satisfaction
Overall, folks are quite happy. I’m always humbled when I receive your notes of encouragement. So many of you expressed how helpful and time-saving the newsletter has been. That’s always our goal and I’m thrilled that’s the case. (You can read all the comments submitted on the document above. We include every bit of it - the good and the bad.)
Also, a solid majority would recommend the newsletter to a friend or colleague.
Response from Free Subscribers:
We asked our paid subscribers this question in a slightly different way and the response was even more encouraging.
Response from Paid Subscribers:
One of the reasons I’m proud of this response is that our paid subscribers feel like they’re getting a solid return on their investment. As I’ve always said, my goal is to offer substantially more value than you’re asked to pay for. Do we leave some money on the table? Probably. But I’d rather the decision be a no-brainer. I’d hate it if you didn’t feel like the clear winner.
Ch-ch-changes
In the coming weeks, we’ll announce the changes for next year. Some things will be added, some will be sunsetted. But there are a few things I can tell you right now:
As promised, the free inspo vids will always be free.
Paid subscribers will see things simplified. Many of the constructive comments we received were around the interface and usability of our archives and website. We’ve been working hard on a change I think you all will love. I’m super excited to share it with you soon.
Paid subscribers will get even more value. That’s right, we’re upping the ante on what’s included in the paid subscription. Again, our goal is always to lay out incredible value and make it overwhelmingly clear that you’ll come out way ahead in becoming a paid subscriber. And the feedback we receive proves this has been the case. (Again, feel free to peruse the comments above.)
Rates will increase. That’s right, we’ll raise rates again. It’s primarily to help offset some of the investments we’ve made in simplifying things. But the good news is that, as always, rates will not rise for current paid subscribers and free subscribers will once again be able to lock in our current rate for life before the increase in August. (Our first few hundred paid subscribers are still paying as low as $60 a year for what we’re offering … and they’ll continue to do so as we continue to add value in the years to come! Loyalty should be valued. I love it!)
A personal update from me. I’ll update you on some big news on the personal and professional front. Some changes have been in the works for me to spend even more time with administrators, teachers, and students. I’m stoked to share it with you!
Thanks again for your feedback and continued support. I’ll be in touch very soon with a lot of fun news!
Enjoy your summer!
Mike
